Flood Early Warning

Solutions

Flood Early Warning Systems

Buraq Integrated Solutions provides robust and reliable ALERT, ALERT2, hybrid ALERT, and fully customized flood early-warning systems designed for precise, real-time hydrological monitoring. Our turnkey ALERT transmitters are packaged in traditional canisters for seamless standpipe installation, and our field-proven data loggers deliver consistent performance even in the harshest and most remote environments. Whether integrating into an existing network or building a new system from the ground up, we offer scalable solutions tailored to your specific monitoring and emergency-response needs.

ALERT Systems

Our ALERT systems are fully compatible with standard ALERT and ALERT2 protocols, providing seamless integration and reliable network performance. Built with durable, field-proven data loggers, they support a wide range of sensors—including pulse, analog, SDI-12, pressure transducers, shaft encoders, bubblers, and ultrasonic sensors—while onboard algorithms calculate key statistics and store backup data.

Solar-powered for long-term operation, the systems can also integrate additional environmental sensors and easily upgrade legacy installations using existing standpipes and hardware.

ALERT2 Systems

ALERT2 technology provides higher performance, greater network capacity, and significantly reduced data loss. Ideal for new installations or incremental upgrades, ALERT2 allows agencies to modernize their flood-warning networks in manageable phases—controlling cost and minimizing downtime.

While enhancing communication reliability, ALERT2 maintains all core ALERT functionalities and supports the same field-tested sensors and configurations.

Hybrid ALERT Systems

Our hybrid ALERT systems combine ALERT capabilities with advanced sensor networks and enhanced communications. Depending on project requirements, the system can operate on either one or two radio frequencies:

  • Single-frequency mode prioritizes one-way ALERT transmissions during storm events, maximizing bandwidth during critical periods.

  • Dual-frequency mode enables a fully functional two-way communication network for enhanced system control.

Key advantages include:

  • Automatic retries for missed packets

  • Detailed diagnostics

  • Clock synchronization

  • Remote reprogramming from the base station

  • Complete historical data retrieval (no data gaps)

  • Interactive system control

  • Voice modem alarm call-outs

These hybrid configurations are ideal for agencies seeking improved performance while collaborating with neighboring jurisdictions or organizations to reduce costs and expand network coverage.

LoggerNet Flood Monitoring

A flood-warning network powered by LoggerNet software leverages advanced two-way RF communications and modern network management tools. LoggerNet’s client/server architecture is optimized for large-scale monitoring systems, offering:

  • High-speed polling of multiple stations

  • Rapid data distribution to multiple agencies and stakeholders

  • Polling windows as short as 100 ms, allowing dozens of remote stations to report each second

As LoggerNet collects data, authorized users can access real-time information through LAN connections or secure Internet access, ensuring timely decision-making during flood events.

Additional Resources & Integration Options

Flood-warning systems can be further enhanced by integrating other technologies to meet regional or multi-agency needs. Partnerships with local governments, water authorities, and federal agencies often expand system coverage, improve data resiliency, and optimize budgets.

Optional enhancements include:

  • GOES satellite transmitters for automated data archiving via NOAA/NESDIS and USGS

  • Multi-purpose monitoring systems combining hydrological, meteorological, and environmental measurements

  • Redundant communication paths to ensure continuous operation during severe weather

These integrated strategies provide greater situational awareness, enabling communities to respond quickly and effectively to flood risks.
