Automated Weather Observing Systems (AWOS)

Our Automated Weather Observing Systems (AWOS) are designed to deliver accurate, continuous, and real-time meteorological information essential for safe and efficient airport operations. As a core component of modern Aviation Weather Systems, AWOS provides comprehensive monitoring of atmospheric and runway conditions, enabling pilots, air traffic controllers, and airport authorities to make informed operational decisions under all weather scenarios.

Compliance with International Aviation Standards & Integration

Engineered in compliance with international aviation standards, our AWOS solutions ensure high reliability, precision, and seamless integration with Air Traffic Control (ATC) systems, airport infrastructure, and meteorological networks. The system supports automated generation and dissemination of critical aviation weather reports, including METAR, SPECI, and ATIS, ensuring timely and standardized communication of weather conditions to pilots and navigators.

Comprehensive Meteorological Sensor Suite

Our AWOS solutions incorporate a wide range of high-precision sensors and subsystems to measure key meteorological parameters. These include barometric pressure sensors for accurate measurement of atmospheric pressure (QNH, QFE, QFF), essential for aircraft altitude calibration. Temperature and humidity sensors provide ambient air conditions, while wind sensors (anemometers) measure wind speed, direction, and gusts at multiple runway locations.

Visibility and Runway Condition Monitoring Systems

For visibility and runway condition monitoring, the system integrates advanced Present Weather Sensors capable of detecting precipitation type and intensity (rain, drizzle, snow, fog, haze, dust), along with visibility sensors and Runway Visual Range (RVR) systems for precise assessment of runway visibility. Background illuminance sensors are included to measure ambient light levels, enabling accurate calculation of RVR under varying daylight and night conditions.

Cloud and Ceiling Detection

Cloud and ceiling detection is achieved through advanced Ceilometers, which use laser-based technology to determine cloud base height, vertical visibility, and cloud layering. These measurements are critical for flight operations, particularly during instrument flight rules (IFR) conditions.

System Architecture and Data Processing Framework

The system architecture comprises distributed field sensor units, data acquisition systems, central processing units, and operator interface platforms. Field units are ruggedized for harsh environmental conditions and connected via reliable communication networks (fiber optic, wireless, or hybrid). The central processing system applies standardized algorithms to validate, process, and format sensor data into aviation-compliant outputs.

Data Management and Communication Systems

A key component of AWOS is its data management and dissemination system, which includes Human-Machine Interface (HMI) displays, remote monitoring capabilities, automated voice broadcasting (ATIS), and integration with ATC consoles. The system supports real-time data visualization, alarm generation, data logging, and reporting, ensuring complete situational awareness for airport operators.

System Reliability, Redundancy, and Scalability Features

Additional features include system redundancy, self-diagnostics, automated calibration routines, and configurable alert thresholds to ensure uninterrupted operation and minimal maintenance.
